Calming colours with touches of adventurous contrasts are trending this season. What could be better than tending to the style of the early months of the year with serenity, calm and vibrancy? I thought it might be interesting to share some of my pattern-search and finds that I spotted while combing through the Sarita Handa lifestyle store.

Living room styles with a combination of geometrics, florals, weaves and embroidery have a stylish touch with a note of magic. Solid coloured sofas with contrasting as well as colour blending options could make for various design stories to reflect the personality of the user. I have put together images with options of various combinations, for you to choose your own design story.

Accent chairs are a great addition to a seating layout or even to a quiet corner for yourself, with a window view. It boils down to the individual's choice but going by trends, bold colours and fabric choices seem to be making it to the favourites. If you are a trend watcher too, you would want to be open-minded and go for it.

The Bedroom is about being at home with your space, celebrating peace and serenity. My choices of shopping from the trends would be, a demure restful canvas with a dash of a colour to gently spice it up.

Soft furnishings and Accessories are the primary essentials to adding a signature to your design temperament. I found a good assemblage of persona types at this store.

To shop for this style pattern and add panache to your home and space, you could head to the brick-and-mortar stores of this label at Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru (http://www.saritahanda.com/retail-store-khan-market.php) or even shop online at (http://www.exclusively.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=sarita+handa).

Adopt some colours, follow the designer tricks and trends, and hope you achieve a great balance in pulling together an exceptional scheme for your space.

Note: You could share with us photographs of your designed spaces with a concept note. We might choose it and share it on our social media handles with credit to you.
In the beginning months of the year, when there is a gentle nip in the air and a haze on the horizon, I tend to have a bit of a favourtism to bright colours and smart trivias when it comes to home decor. Tucked away in a bylane, in Khar west, Mumbai, is this surprise package of a lifestyle store called Sanctum.

Sanctum has a collection of mugs, coasters, cushion covers, party knick-knacks, tableware, trays and suspended art. The assemblage contains an array of patterns and colourways that I have chosen to mix and match in my images today.

Mugs and colourful trays are a bit of my weakness so I could not prevent myself from picking up this vibrant combination of mugs and trays for my office. To add a bit of fun to my work table I indulged in some colourful stationaries too.

While discussing colour, a section of monochrome also caught my attention. There are a whole assortment of monochrome products that can find its way into a subtle and stylish decor, sometimes even with a demure hint of colour.

I think I have restrained quite a bit of greed while sorting the images of all the combinations I could have put together. You could fuel up your creative soul and do the same for yourself at the store or even from the sanctum webstore at http://www.sanctumstore.com/. I am positive you would find yourself in my shoes as it's all just a little bit tempting.

Wild, wind-whipped river shores, safaris through dense jungles, pristine skylines and sighting of shy wildlife were my expectations of the trip to Nagarhole National Park in Karnataka.

It took us about a six-hour drive from Bangalore to reach Kabini River Lodge, magnificently located on the banks of river Kabini which runs between Bandipur and Nagarahole, two of the richest National Parks at the foothills of the Western Ghats in Southern IndiaOnce we stepped out of our vehicle, gentle whistling wind and a calming quiet greeted us- the urbans- announcing that we were in the lap of the wild.

Out of the two options of wildlife safaris, either by jeep or cruise, we initially opted for the jeep safari. A qualified naturalist accompanied us on the trip to help us sight the wildlife attractions. Kabini, we were told, plays a host to over 300 species of birds. It has a healthy population of predators, tigers, leopards and wild dogs. Herbivores of the park are Asiatic elephants, Gaurs (Indian Bison), Chitals (spotted deer) and Sambars (deer). During the dry summer months, Kabini is famous for the largest congregation of Asiatic elephants. Other attractions are the cheeky genus of the monkey (grey Langur) population who are immersed in their own antics within their habitat.

The river safari was my favourite part of the trip. Gentle flowing Kabini river, breathtaking landscape, varied species of birds, rowing down the stream with the elephants and a mesmerising sunset on an expansive horizon made the experience dynamic.

My stay at Kabini had its share of humour too. Not only the wild but the domesticated version of the monkey genus put up a natural show which had me in splits.

Nagarhole National Park is a wonderful getaway from the city to reconnect with nature where predators and herbivores, the wild and the domestic, coexist in the same fabric, respecting individual spaces. It is an invigorating adventure for the individual as well as an exciting family holiday for the free spirited.
